Meet Blake Reed, a Reedley FFA student who is a Junior at Reedley High School:
Blake joined FFA because Ag Bio initially seemed intriguing, and his previous advisor spoke highly of the program. What started as a fun activity soon turned into a profound appreciation for agriculture’s critical role in society. Blake realized that agriculture is fundamental to America, providing not only food and water but also influencing technology and everyday items like phones.
FFA has become important to Blake because it’s more than just a program about animals and plants; it’s a way to develop life skills. Through FFA, he has learned consistency, developed a strong work ethic, and gained the confidence to excel in job interviews thanks to LDE competitions. At this years fair, Blake is excited to show a Chester Gilt named Serenade, who has a big personality and greets him with playful grunts. Serenade, being his first project, marks the beginning of his journey in FFA, inspired by his siblings’ previous involvement. He extends his gratitude to Mrs. Atkinson for her dedication to Reedley FFA and the incredible opportunities she provides.
